Lloyd’s Register Asia offers a comprehensive range
of technical services which can be tuned to the
needs of assets in the ports and logistics segment.
We help ensure that cargo handling and crane
operations are conducted safely, reliably and
efficiently and that equipment fully complies with
the relevant standards.
Container services:
We have developed market-leading services in
design appraisal, inspection and certification for
all container types including tank containers, ISO
boxes and offshore containers for new production
and in-service work. We provide certification for
all container types from new build through to
in-service containers. We work closely with you to
help maintain your operational fleets in the most
efficient manner possible. We provide
certification services to show compliance with
many laws that apply to containers.

Lloyd’s Register is also pleased to offer services
to provide owner’s acceptance against each
client’s own approval criteria. The approval
specification can be pre-determined by the client
and Lloyd’s Register is happy to design an
inspection programme to meet client’s individual
needs.

Services for lifting appliances (quayside
container cranes, rubber tyre gantry cranes):

technical support and inspection
at manufacturer’s works and on-site

design appraisal services relating
to all parts of the crane, including structural,
electrical and mechanical

certification involving design
appraisal, inspection during manufacturing and
witnessing of testing at works and on site

in-service inspection

progress review and reporting /2nd

welder and welding procedure qualification
services as per EN/BS standards, AWS, D1.1 etc.

assessment/technical audit to check technical
capability of manufacturer; mostly using a
specified checklist developed between Lloyd’s and
client).
We have undertaken inspection and design appraisal
services on behalf of port authorities, harbour
commissioners, shipping lines, and port and
terminal operators, who handle a significant
proportion of international container traffic. In
China specifically, we have been working in
lifting appliance projects for 10 years and have
certified over 100 off quayside container cranes
and more than 200 off rubber-tyre gantry cranes.
Most of our surveyors are with over 5 years
experience in lifting appliance projects while the
project managers have at least 7 years.

Supply chain security services:
As part of our focus on supply chain security,
Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) provides
certification services confirming compliance with
ISO 28000:2007.
ISO 28000:2007 is a risk based standard and an
international benchmark for managing security
programs in different countries, while
simultaneously applying a globally consistent
standard of operations. The objective of these
initiatives is to improve the movement of cross
border trade by ensuring that members of the
supply chain are confirmed as secure traders.
